Ballet Program at Academy of Dance
The Ballet Program at Academy of Dance offers enriching, high-quality performance experiences for dancers of all ages. Designed to foster both artistry and responsibility, our program goes beyond the stage — helping dancers grow in confidence, teamwork, and creativity.
Performance Opportunities
Dancers in our ballet program participate in full-length productions each year, including:
- The Nutcracker (December)
- Spring Ballet (May/June)
– featuring a new and exciting theme annually
These productions provide a wonderful opportunity for dancers who may not wish to compete, though many students successfully balance both ballet performances and competition.
Auditions & Participation
All roles are cast through auditions, and dancers are expected to:
-Attend scheduled rehearsals
-Participate in the creative process,
including assisting with props and scenery
-Contribute backstage during performances
This well-rounded experience gives each dancer a strong sense of pride in their contributions both onstage and behind the scenes.
Eligibility
-Dancers do not need to be enrolled at Academy of Dance to participate
-Dancers aged 10+ must be enrolled in a ballet technique class
Rehearsals & Scheduling
Rehearsals are typically held on Fridays and Saturdays, though not every weekend.
We strive to be flexible and work around school activities, sports, and other commitments.
Organization is managed through a shared Google Drive, where families can easily track:
-Roles and casting
-Rehearsal schedules
-Conflict submissions
Production Fees
Monthly pricing varies depending on casting and class size, and is sent out the following month. The production fee includes:
-Commemorative T-shirt
-Digital recording of the performance
-Instruction time for dress rehearsal and performance
-Three all-cast rehearsals
Community Engagement
Our ballet dancers are proud to participate in community outreach events, such as:
-Brighton Community Center’s Nutcracker Tea
-ARC of Livingston County’s Annual Winter Fashion Show Fundraiser
Volunteer Oppotunities
As a creative and close-knit studio, we welcome and appreciate family involvement. Volunteers are often needed for:
-Building and painting props
-Creating scenery and costumes
-Transporting materials
We frequently host fun, collaborative “craft days” during rehearsal times to bring our productions to life.

We are always looking for parents and alumni to join our “Party Scene” — no experience necessary, and rehearsals are free!
